Gather NYC is a ministry of Advent NYC & part of the Gather Network of the ELCA.

What does that mean?! Great question!

All are welcome at Gather NYC! What started as Advent’s vibrant 20s/30 ministry, led by Pastor Hayley, has grown into Gather NYC, a thriving ministry led by multiple members that have people joining from across the city - from Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island!

Because of our belief in Jesus’ radical love and inclusion - we strive to practice that same radical presence daily. Gather NYC is a group of 20s/30s who are actively living into being the Body of Christ in the world. We are an open, inclusive, and affirming group where we hope all will feel welcome to find community, ask questions, and seek peace, knowing that you are not alone in this journey.

We believe that when Jesus said to love your neighbor, he meant everyone! We have book lovers, dancers, actors, drag queens, seminarians, lawyers, musicians, and more! We are filled with queer people, people of color, white people, people with disabilities, introverts, extroverts, dog lovers and cat lovers! Above all - we are working toward a more loving and just world knowing we are all God’s people and we are all called Beloved.

Some of our events include Pub Theology, where we discuss different questions about faith, morality, or questions from the group; Book Club, potlucks, Bagels & Board games, and craft nights. We’ve also had one-time events like walking the length of Manhattan (The Tippity Top to the Bippity Bop), Beach Day, and attending book talks by famous theologians or authors. We are always open to new events!
