The Latino tradition of Las Posadas (literally “The Inns”) reenacts the story of Mary and Joseph searching for a place to stay on Christmas Eve. In the Gospels, Mary and Joseph are turned away at 6 inns before finding the stable where Jesus was born.
This is more than a tradition. Mary, Joseph, Jesus, and many members of our congregation have something in common: they are immigrants. At each inn where Mary and Joseph are turned away, we will share a present-day story of an immigrant in our community.
Come join us in remembering the experience of three immigrants, Mary, Joseph, and Jesus; and praying that the immigrants currently in our midst, too, will find open doors, safety, and be a light to their communities.
The service will be followed by social time with snacks, drinks, and a piñata.
